The Howl festival was founded in 2003 and was held ech spring until 2013 celebrating the coulourful art of the East Village and the Lower east side. The festival was named after the poem „Howl“ from Allen Ginsberg. The poem decribes America in the 1950s with all it inequalities and shows how unfair the system was. It was banned for quite some time due to its „obscenety“. This project represents freedome. Freedom of speece, religion and colour.
